The emphasis in this chapter is to correct photos by using techniques which leave the original tomnes and colors untouched under masks, 'colors' so that, even after saving (with layers intact), adjustments can be changed.
As always, a good exposure to start is best practice. But, with the tips in this chapter, a photo can become even more expressive by interpretation and toning. Tone can add to the photo meaning and can be achieved non-destructively by using dodging and burning in these ways:
